Basionym: Epidendrum tessellatum Roxb., Pl. Coromandel View in CoL 1: 34, 1795.

Homotypic synonym: Aerides tessellata (Roxb.) Wight ex Lindl. View in CoL , Gen . Sp. Orchid. Pl.: 240, 1833.

Heterotypic synonym: Vanda roxburghii R.Br., Bot. Reg. 6: t. 506, 1820.

Specimen examined:— TENASSERIM. Fide Hooker (1890b: 52; as V. roxburghii ). Reported from Chin State and Tanintharyi Region by Kress et al. (2003: 90), but we have not seen material from these areas.

Distribution:— Sri Lanka, India, the Himalayas and Myanmar.
