Distribution:— Endemic.
Notes:— The species has been considered conspecific with the widespread H. rhodocheila Hance but differs strikingly in its foliage (broadly ovate-lanceolate and green basal leaves with whitish mottling). Vegetatively, the plants resemble H. carnea Weathers from Peninsular Thailand and Malaysia, which has a different floral structure. Daun 98 was in fact originally identified as ‘a form of H. carnea ’. We have provisionally recognised H. rodgeri as a distinct species but suggest that a study of the entire H. rhodocheila group needs to be undertaken in order to clarify its taxonomy.
