Distribution:— Pakistan, the Himalayas, Southeast Asia and as far east as New Guinea and north to China, Japan and Korea.
Notes:— Two collections from Shan State, Tanaka et al. 080446 and Baba et al. m-573, are atypical in their lip shape, with three short and equally long lobes. In their flower morphology, they are reminiscent of a similar collection from central Nepal that in a phylogenetic analysis of the genus groups with Herminium lanceum (B.B. Raskoti, pers. comm.).
