The taxonomy of the mainland Asian species of this genus is unsatisfactorily understood, as indicated by the deeply contrasting concepts published in in the last few decades ( Seidenfaden 1983, Chen et al. 2009, Pedersen et al. 2014). A thorough revision is much needed.

Geodorum attenuatum Griff., Calcutta J. Nat. Hist. 5: 358, 1845. Type :— MYANMAR. Without locality: imp. & cult. Calcutta Bot. Gard. s.n. (holotype: not located; icon. CAL; copy K)

Distribution:— Northeastern India, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and southwestern and southern China.

Note:— Kurz apparently used the number 356 twice.
