Basionym: Cypripedium insigne Wall. ex Lindl., Coll. Bot. : t. 32, 1824.

Homotypic synonym: Cordula insignis (Wall. ex Lindl.) Raf., Fl. Tellur. 4: 46, 1838.

Specimens examined:— MANDALAY. Pyinoolwin District : fide Nyan Tun (2014: 358) . SHAN. Kyaukme District : fide Nyan Tun (2014: 358). WITHOUT LOCALITY. Fide Gruss (2015: 277) .

Distribution:— Northeastern India, Myanmar and southwestern China.

Note:— One of the parents of the putative hybrids P. × leeanum and P. sallieri .
