Basionym: Habenaria ophiocephala W.W.Sm. View in CoL , Notes Roy. Bot. Gard. Edinburgh 13: 208, 1921. Type:— MYANMAR. Kachin State: Myitkyina District , 2135 m, Jul 1919, Kingdon-Ward 3336 (holotype: E) .
Homotypic synonym: Platanthera ophiocephala (W.W.Sm.) Tang & F.T.Wang, Bull. Fan Mem. Inst. Biol. View in CoL 10: 29, 1940.
Specimen examined:— KACHIN. Myitkyina District : type. Distribution:— Endemic .
Notes:— Based on an examination of the type specimen by PO, we place this species in Pecteilis . Originally described in Habenaria , it was transferred to Platanthera on account of its single stigma and simple lip by Tang & Wang (1940: 29), who also suggested that the plant resembles Platanthera japonica (Thunb.) Lindl.
