Homotypic synonyms: Malaxis polyodon View in CoL (Hook.f.) Kuntze, Revis. Gen . Pl. 2: 673, 1891. Malaxis rheedeana J.M.H.Shaw, Orchid Rev. View in CoL 124 (1314, Suppl.): 37, 2016, nom. nud. et inval.
Specimens examined:— KAYAH. Loikaw District: Tanaka et al. MY4803 ( TNS, photo seen) . MON. Mawlamyine District : type. Also reported from Tanintharyi Region by Kress et al. (2003: 83; as Malaxis polyodont ), but we have not seen material from this area.
Distribution:— Southern Myanmar, Laos and Thailand.

Distribution:— Western Myanmar, Thailand and southwestern China.
Note:— Previously regarded as conspecific with the Sumatran Microstylis ovalisepala J.J.Sm.
