Homotypic synonym: Callista wardiana (R.Warner) Kuntze, Revis. Gen . Pl. 2: 655, 1891.

Heterotypic synonym: Dendrobium wardianum R.Warner var. candidum Rchb. f., Gard. Chron., n.s., 5: 460, 1876.

Specimens examined:— KACHIN. Myitkyina District : without collector s.n. (not located, possibly CAL), fide Pottinger & Prain (1898: 268) . CHIN. Mindat District: 1220 m and below, 11 Mar 1956, Kingdon-Ward 21778 ( BM), det. Alsterlund. SHAN. Hopang District: 1675 m, May 1940, Dickason 9706 ( AMES) . MON. Mawlamyine District: cult. Boxall s.n. ( K), ident. uncertain. Also reported from Rakhine State by Kress et al. (2003: 76), but we have not seen material from this area.

Distribution:— The eastern Himalayas, northeastern India, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and southwestern China.
