Distribution:— Sri Lanka, India, the Himalayas, Myanmar, Thailand, Indochina, southwestern China and Malesia as far east as the Lesser Sunda Islands.

Note:— Lindley (1850: 135) considered the simultaneously published D. aureum and D. heterocarpum conspecific and chose the name D. aureum ; therefore, this should be the epithet that is adopted. Unfortunately Hooker (1853: t. 4708) used the name D. heterocarpum , and he has been followed by almost all later authors. At this time, we continue to employ the name D. heterocarpum , but note it must be conserved if its use is to continue.
