Diagnostic remarks. Similar to T. continua but easy to distinguish by the shape of the male cercus ( Fig. 25L View FIGURE 25 ), proportionately longer legs, and the lack of the dark brown stripe on the dorsal side of the body ( Fig. 25M View FIGURE 25 ).

Bioacoustics. The call of T. bilineolata is a series of single syllables, produced at the rate of about 1 syllable/s (at 23°C); mean syllable duration is 0.03577 s (SD=0.004492, n=18); the peak frequency of the call is 16.4–21.6 kHz ( Figs. 52 View FIGURE 52 J–L).

Distribution and natural history. T. bilineolata is has been recorded from most of sub-Saharan Africa and Madagascar ( Ragge 1964). It is found in open, dry savanna habitats, albeit it is decidedly less common in central Mozambique than T. continua .
