Diagnosis. Externally, the new species ( Figs 7, 8 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ) differs from its closest relative B. delineata ( Figs 1–6 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ) by its slightly narrower forewings, intense pale red ground color of fore- and hindwings, and more distinct forewing pattern. The male genitalia ( Figs 11, 12 View FIGURES 9 – 12 ) differ clearly from those of B. delineata ( Figs 9–10 View FIGURES 9 – 12 ) by the smaller juxta, narrower valvae, broad lobe-like medial costal extension, much smaller and almost triangular distal costal extension, distally broader and strongly setose sacculus, longer and stronger curved distal saccular extension, and shorter dorsal finger-like diverticulum in the vesica. The female genitalia ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 13 – 15 ) are close to those of B. delineata ( Figs 13, 14 View FIGURES 13 – 15 ), but differ by the much shorter and narrower postvaginal plate, slightly narrower antrum, anteriorly broader ductus bursae, and larger spinules in corpus bursae.
Description. Adult ( Figs 7, 8 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). Length of forewing 12–13 mm in males and 14–15 mm in females. Antennae of both sexes finely ciliate, with longer cilia in males. Sexual dimorphism poorly expressed: male have only somewhat narrower forewings and slightly smaller size than females. Head, thorax and abdomen intensely pale red; thorax with two black dots medially. Forewing ground color intensely pale red, pattern sharp, consisting of black lines, strokes and dots. Subbasal area with a black dot and short longitudinal stroke; antemedial line wshaped; medial line slightly curved inwards; cell with a small black dot; postmedial line strongly curved outwards, connected with strokes of different length situated on veins in subterminal area; subterminal and apical sections of costal margin black; cilia black. Hindwing pale red, paler than forewing; veins Rs and M1 with strong black suffusion; cilia pale red, but black on apex. Male genita lia ( Figs 11, 12 View FIGURES 9 – 12 ). Uncus long, narrow, curved, laterally flattened, apically pointed. Tegumen short and moderately broad; manica broad, with strong scobination; juxta small, consists of two triangular lobes; vinculum short, U-shaped. Valva elongated, distally broadened; medial costal extension long and broad lobe; distal costal extension very large, broadly triangular, with an additional short, broad and apically rounded dorsal protrusion; sacculus large, broad, its dorsal margin strongly setose; distal saccular extension short, slightly curved dorsally. Aedeagus narrow, elongated; vesica consists of one large dorsal conical diverticulum and bulbous latero-ventral diverticulum, both with field of small narrow cornuti, and also one dorsal subbasal and two small medio-ventral membranous diverticuli; basal plate of ductus ejaculatorius heavily sclerotized, narrow and very long. Female genitalia ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 13 – 15 ). Ovipositor short and broad. Apophyses anteriores and posteriores long and thin. Postvaginal plate short and narrow. Antrum broad, funnel-like; ductus bursae short, moderately sclerotized, dorso-ventrally flattened, strongly broadened posteriorly. Corpus bursae ovate, with numerous small spinules which are larger in posterior section of corpus bursae. Appendix bursae small, conical, situated postero-laterally.
Distribution. The new species is known from North Thailand (Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provinces).
Etymology. 'Sublucana' is 'predawn' in Latin. The species name refers to the behavior of males that fly only before sunrise.
Note. Previously the taxon was reported for Thailand by Černý (2012) as B. delineata .
