Diagnosis. The single member of the strialis species-group can be distinguished from other Sagola species-groups by the following combination of characters: body length 2.2–2.8 mm; frontal rostrum prominent ( Fig. 43c View Fig ); antennomere 1 approximately 2 times longer than wide; anterior and posterior frontal foveae deep and largely oval ( Fig. 43c View Fig ); ventral surface of male head with distinct triangular process bearing dense setae behind mouthparts ( Fig. 43d View Fig ); hind wings well-developed; abdominal tergites IV–VI with discal carinae; only known from South Island.
