ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Micropalpus maculus Macquart, 1843 (as “ Macula ”); Micropalpus dorsopunctatus Macquart, 1843 ; Micropalpus rufiventris Macquart, 1846 ; Micropalpus flavicans Macquart, 1846 ; Micropalpus rufipennis Macquart, 1846 ; Micropalpus flavitarsis Macquart, 1843 (as “ Flavitarsis del Guerin”); Epalpus rubripilus Rondani, 1850 ; Epalpus pallitarsis Rondani, 1850 .
TYPE SPECIES: Micropalpus rufipennis Macquart, 1846 , by subsequent designation ( Coquillett, 1910: 538) .
CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste O’Hara & Wood (2004: 313) ].

CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Ephydra Fallén, 1810 View in CoL .

REMARKS: The earliest mention of Ephydra Fallén, 1810 using the spelling “ Ephidra ” that we have found in this study is in Guérin in Bory (1827: 332), as an incorrect subsequent spelling. In Rondani (1856) this is either an incorrect subsequent spelling or unjustified emendation (by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “y” to “i” in the same work). We thus follow ICZN Code Article 33.5 in treating this spelling in Rondani (1856) as an incorrect subsequent spelling.
