Subfamily: Phaneropterinae View in CoL
Diagnosis of the tribe Elimaeini . Fastigium verticis forming a right angle with fastigium frontis; pronotum with a distinct humeral sinus; anterior coxa without spine, though in some species a minute spinule may be present; anterior femur on ventral side furrowed, provided with small spines; anterior tibia dorsally furrowed with dorsoapical spurs; tibial tympana covered with conchate fold with wider anterior slit on both sides or on the internal side only; tegmina fully developed, hind wings surpassing tegmina in both sexes; male sub-genital plate without styli; ovipositor usually falcate, rarely sabre shaped, little longer than pronotum.
The species of Elimaea Stål, 1874 reported from India as per checklist include the following eight:
Elimaea securigera Brunner von Wattenwyl Elimaea subcarinata (Stål)
Elimaea carispina Ingrisch & Shishodia Elimaea insignis (Walker)
Elimaea bidentata Brunner von Wattenwyl Elimaea nigrosignata Bolivar
The above checklist reporting Elimaea species from India does not include E. thaii , E. chloris , E. nautica and E. subcarinata sp. nov., which is different from E. subcarinata . The species E. nautica has been recorded by us from India for the first time, which was earlier reported by Ingrisch (1998) from Thailand and the Indo-China region. Our collections were from Meghalaya state that falls into the Indo-China border area.
