Description of Brevibacillus porteri BT 750

Cells are Gram-staining-positive rods without a flagellum. Colonies are circular, convex, glistening, and white-colored after three days of incubation at 25℃ on R2 A agar. Positive for gelatinase and β-galactosidase activities. Utilizes D- glucose and D- maltose. Negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, esculin hydrolysis, and arginine dihydrolase and urease activities. Does not utilize L- arabinose, D- mannose, D- mannitol, N- acetylglucosamine, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid. Strain BT 750 (= NIBRBAC000508873) was isolated from soil from Jeju-do, Korea (33°25′57.0″N 126°41′26.0″E) GoogleMaps .
