Etymology. The speCifiC name pampaensis refers to the biome (Pampa) from whiCh the type speCimens were ColleCted.

Remarks. Regarding the shape of the dorsal setae, Cosmolaelaps pampaensis is Closely related to C. chini Bai & Gu, 1993 , C. liae Bai & Gu, 1993 , C. michaeli (Huhta & Karg, 2010) and C. paravacua Nasr & Nawar, 1989 . C. liae and C. paravacua differs by C. pampaensis and other mentioned speCies above by having distinCt anterior margin of sternal shield. Cosmolaelaps chini has Z5 sCimitar-shaped, j1 leaf-shaped and smooth genital shield. Cosmolaelaps michaeli has Z5 sCimitar-shaped, dorsal setae with the same length (in C. pampaensis J5 is twiCe as long as Z5) and anterior ends of peritreme in front of s1 (in C. pampaensis the anterior ends of peritreme is in front of z1).

This paper reports Cosmolaelaps speCies for the first time in the Pampa biome in Brazil. InCluding the new speCies here desCribed, 13 Cosmolaelaps speCies have been reported from this Country.
