Material examined. 4 ex. Jilongshan Reservoir , Jinping District, Shantou City, Guangdong Province, China; 23.45°N, 116.59°E, September 2023 by Yu- Huan Liu leg. GoogleMaps

Holotype. NNUH20240801 , shell height 24.91 mm, width 10.06 mm, height of the body whorl 13.96 mm.

Paratypes. 3 ex. NNUH20240802–4 , shell height 20.89–22.21 mm, width 9.25–9.76 mm, height of the body whorl 12.09–13.32 mm, locality and habitat same as holotype .

Locus typicus. Jilongshan Reservoir, Jinping District, Shantou City, Guangdong Province, China; 23.45°N, 116.59°E.

Etymology. The specific name " sangpuensis " is derived from Sangpu mountain, Shantou City, Guangdong Province, China, the collection location of the specimen. We suggest the Chinese common name as " 桑浦短沟ĸ ".

Description. Shell small, thick, solid, elongated conical, tan, surface with some horizontal rib; apex eroded, left five whorls, growth lines obvious, without spiral ribs, body whorl swollen, taking up most of the shell about 57%. Suture low. Lip thin, inner lip slightly thickened and smooth, off-white, outer lip white. Umbilicus absent.

Operculum. ( Fig. 2 Q View Figure 2 ) Ovate, smaller than aperture, corneous, thin, brown, length 5.57 mm, width 3.56 mm, and the nucleus located at the bottom left about 1/5.

Radula. ( Fig. 3 Q View Figure 3 ) Central teeth with triangle-shaped pointed major cusp, and 2–3 smaller cusps on each side. Lateral teeth with pointed major cusp on inner side and 3–4 smaller cusps on each side. Inner marginal teeth with seven to eight and outer with four to five lattened, rounded denticles.

Anatomy. Snout, foot and tentacles grey, with yellow spots. Snout broad, with a black pigmented, cylindrical, with long cephalic tentacles, tentacles greater than snout in length.

Remarks. Apex eroded, left five whorls of S. sangpuensis sp. nov., which is a significant feature that distinguishes other Semisulcospira species. Semisulcospira sangpuensis sp. nov. is most similar to S. pueuroceroides , but can nevertheless be easily separated by the operculum nucleus located at about 1/5. The new species can also be clearly distinguished from other Semisulcospira congeners by the following features: shell surface with some horizontal rib (vs. shell sculptured in S. erythrozona (Heude, 1888) and S. cinnamomea (Gredler, 1884)) , body whorl swollen, taking up most of the shell about 57% less than S. calculus (Reeve, 1860) .

Habitat and distribution. This species was collected from Jilongshan Reservoir, Jinping District, Shantou City, Guangdong Province. The water depth was less than 50 centimeters, the water flow was slow, and the substrate was stones.
