Dissomphalus geniculatus Azevedo, 2001: 185 (♂, holotype from Costa Rica).

Diagnosis. Male. Black. Mandible with two apical teeth. Median clypeal lobe trapezoidal. Frons strongly coriaceous. Genitalia: paramere with concave apex, corner produced; basivolsella with sharpened and large apical tooth, base digitus produced; aedeagal ventral ramus as long as dorsal body, laminar, surface subvertical, apical half convergent, apex bidentate, inner tooth larger; aedeagal dorsal body with three pairs apical lobes, outer pair bifurcated in two arms, dorsal arm with series of sharp teeth and ventral arm smaller and sharp; two inner pairs membranous, stout, median one small, setose; basal process with pair arched teeth.

Variations. The main variations found in this series are in the apex of the paramere, which can be weakly or strongly bifurcated.

Remarks. This species was previously known from Costa Rica and Panama ( Azevedo 2001). Now it is recorded for the first time from Brazil (Maranhão).
