Described from California and recorded only from that state in HENRY & FROESCHNER (1988). The species is keyed by PARSHLEY (1921) who notes that it is similar to A. duzeei BERGROTH, 1892, but differs in the shape of the pronotum and in the genital structure. The pronotum is widest in the basal third, the rostrum reaches the mesosternum, and the genital lobes are short and truncate posteriorly.
