Macrolycus s. str.

(incl. M. bowringi and M. yunnanus species groups)

Redefinition. Body slender, larger in female than male, brown to black. Pronotum and scutellum, elytra red or orange, surface covered with decumbent red pubescence. Antennae flabellate in males, at least overlapping elytral mid-length when inclined, antennomere II very short and transverse, III triangular or lamellate, and IV‒XI lamellate ( Fig. 2 ), while antennae serrate in females. Pronotum trapezoidal, disc present with a median longitudinal keel extending from anterior margin to middle part of disc, anterior margin widely rounded, mostly projecting anteriad, lateral margins feebly sinuate and posterior margin straight or bisinuate; anterior angles rounded, posterior angles sharp and projected. Scutellum trapezoidal, emarginate or straight at apex. Elytra leaf-like, each elytron with four costae. Claws slender, all bifid at apices in both sexes. Aedeagus composed of basal piece, phallus, and parameres. Parameres more or less developed, and shell- or spoon-shaped. Phallus slender and cylindrical, almost twice to six times longer than parameres, subapical part inflated laterally in dorsal and ventral views and flat or inflated ventrally in lateral view, with a fusiform ventral-cavity, apex present with two minute processes or tetraschistic (e.g., Fig. 3 ).

Distribution ( Fig. 1 ). China, N. India, Nepal, Bhutan, N. Myanmar, N. Thailand, N. Vietnam, N. Laos.
