Total length (head + trunk) of holotype 2.51 mm. Specimens pale white with blue pigments on Ant I–IV, slightly on anterior head, intersegmental areas of antennae and legs; lateral of Th II to Abd IV; presence of irregular spots from Abd III – IV; Eyepatches black ( Figure 9D View Fig ).
Head. Ant I dorsally with 9 mac and 4 basal spiny smooth mic ( Fig 10D View Fig ). Posterior labial chaetotaxy series ‘CG’ with 11 ciliate chaetae (CG1–7e); series ‘PLM’ with 1 ciliated chaetae (PLM1); series ‘PLE’ with 3 ciliate chaetae (PLE1–3); lateral side with about 17 ciliate chaetae ( Figure 11D View Fig ).
Dorsal chaetotaxy. Th II with 1 ‘m’ mac (m7); 1–2 ‘p’ mac (p1a, p2), p2 present or absent. Th III with 1 ‘a’ mac (a7?); 1 ‘m’ mac (m7); 3 ‘p’ mac (p1i, p2–3) ( Figure 12D View Fig ). Abd I with 2 ‘m’ mac (m3, m4) ( Figure 13D View Fig ). Abd III with 2 ‘m’ mac (am6, pm6); 1 ‘p’ mac (p6) ( Figure 14B View Fig ); Abd IV with 4 ‘A’ mac (A1, A3, A4, A6); 1 ‘Ae’ mac (Ae1); 3 ‘B’ mac (B3–5); 1 ‘Be’ mac (Be1); 1 ‘C’ mac (C1); 3 ‘E’ mac (E1, E2, E4); 3 ‘F’ mac (F1–F3); 3 ‘Fe’ mac (Fe1–2, Fe6); posterior side with 3 sens type IV (ps and two unnamed) ( Figure 14E View Fig ). Abd V with 3 ‘a’ mac (a0, a3, a5); 3 ‘m’ mac (m2–3, m5); and 5 ‘p’ mac (p1–5) ( Figure 15D View Fig ).
Appendages. Trochanteral organ with 16 smooth spine-like chaetae ( Figure 16D View Fig ). Collophore anterior side with 4 subapical mac of equal length, and 4 proximal smooth mic; posterior side with 1 apical ciliated mic and 4 subapical smooth chaetae; lateral flap formula 4(s), 4(m), 4(i) smooth chaetae ( Figures 17 View Fig F-G). Manubrial plate with 3 chaetae ( Figure 19C View Fig ). Mucro with 3 teeth (d1, ap, v1) ( Figure 19F View Fig ).
Etymology
The epithet honors our entomologist and friend Dr. Neusa Hamada, collector of the specimens.
Remarks
Salina hamadae sp.n. resembles S. serrana sp.n. by body and legs with blue spots, Ant I with more than 6 mac, Abd I with 2 central mac, Abd IV with at least 10 central mac, and mucro with 4 teeth. However, S. hamadae sp.n. differs of S. serrana sp.n. in chaetotaxy of the Th II–III with p1a and p1i mac, respectively (both absent in S. serrana sp.n.), Abd III with 3 lateral mac next to m5 bothriotrichum (2 in S. serrana sp.n.), and Abd IV devoid of A3p and A5 mac (present in S. serrana sp.n.)
Salina hamadae sp.n. also differs by Ant I with 9 mac (7 in S. serrana sp.n.), trochanteral organ with 16 spine-like chaetae (13 in S. serrana sp.n.), manubrial plate with 3 chaetae (2 in S. serrana sp.n.), and collophore with 8 anterior chaetae (4 mac) and 12 chaetae in three rows on lateral flap, while S. serrana sp.n. has 13 anterior chaetae (3 mac) and lateral flap with 20 chaetae in 4 rows.
