Remarks
The variations observed in species of S. tristani from Brazil are as in Mari Mutt (1987 a, 1987 b), as reduction of 2 mac in Th II (p1p, p4), 4 in Th III (p1p, p2p, p3p, p4), and 4 in Abd I (a1–3, m5). However, in the specimens from Brazil frequently m1 mac is absent, and mucro may have 3 or 4 teeth, at least in one body side. These variations partially influence the diagnosis of S. tristani , since they were used for the difference therein of S. dedoris , S. hermana and S. panamae , at least the chaetotaxy of Th II-III (Mari Mutt, 1987 b). However, the reduced color pattern (typical pattern in S. dedoris ), collophore with 4–5 posterior chaetae (0–2 in S. dedoris and S. hermana ), and chaetotaxy of Th II–Abd I with extra mac present in S. tristani , are still the best way to differentiate, since in these species has reduced chaetotaxy (see Table 2 View Table 2 ).
