Sphecomyrma sp.

MATERIAL: AMNH NJ­ 942, a male in amber from New Jersey: Middlesex Co., Sayreville, White Oaks outcrop. Collected by the late Steve Swolensky. Specimen is in a clear yellow piece of amber 5 3 7 mm, embedded in epoxy and trimmed to 1.5 mm thickness for a full lateral view of the ant.

COMMENTS: Venation and other details of this specimen are indistinguishable from AMNH NJ­242, described and figured by Grimaldi et al. (1997) as † Sphecomyrma ? sp. Measurements: Length of hind wing (forewing
