20. Townesia qinghaiensis He 1996 View in CoL
( Fig. 19 View FIGURE 19 )
Current combination. Junior synonym of Liotryphon strobilellae (Linnaeus 1758) new synonymy ( Ichneumonidae : Pimplinae ).
Material examined. 2♀ s, 2♂s, NHMUK , China, Inner Mongolia, 6.iv.2005, M.L. Sheng, BMNH(E) 2010-66; numerous European specimens of Liotryphon strobilellae in NHMUK .
Comments. Prof. Mao-Ling Sheng kindly donated two females and two males identified as Townesia qinghaiensis , from Inner Mongolia. Li et al. (2019) illustrated the ovipositor tip of Townesia qinghaiensis in detail. These specimens and illustrations agree with the original description ( He et al. 1996): the name is a junior synonym of the widespread Liotryphon strobilellae . He (in He et al. 1996) described the species based on specimens reared from Cydia strobilella (Linnaeus) ( Lepidoptera : Tortricidae ), a frequent host of L. strobilellae , whereas the European Townesia tenuiventris (Holmgren) is a parasitoid of solitary aculeates (e.g., Jussila & Käpylä 1975); the hosts of other Townesia Ozols species are unknown.
