Type locality: Guatemala ( Hansen 1999a).

Distribution in India: Uttarakhand (Kumaon: Sarju Valley).

Global distribution: Cuba, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Portugal (Azores Island), Sri Lanka, United States of America (Hawaiian Island), and Venezuela.

Remarks: Hansen (1999a) tentatively reported the presence of this species in India. Mukhopadhyay (2010: 328) subsequently listed it from Uttarakhand state as Oosternum costatum Sharp, 1882 . However, Oosternum costatum is a homonym and the replacement name for Oosternum costatum Sharp is Oosternum sharpi .
