Diagnosis. This species is characterized by the tuba analis with a protuberance latero-basally, the gnathos produced medially to a sclerotized tongue-shaped process, and the cornutus almost the same length as the aedeagus in the male genitalia ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 d). The female genitalia are closely allied to those of A. speciosa Moriuti , but can be distinguished by the ductus bursae about 1.5 times the length of the elliptic corpus bursae ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 b), which is approximately 4 times the length of the rounded corpus bursae ( Moriuti 1974: Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ).

Description. Adult ( Figs 3 View FIGURE 3 d, 3e): Wingspan 5.5‒10.0 mm. Head snowy white. Antenna with scape white, pecten pale brown; flagellum greyish white except basal two flagellomeres brown dorsally. Labial palpus with first and second palpomeres yellowish brown, third palpomere white. Thorax white, with a brown transverse band close to posterior margin. Tegula white, with a brown basal spot in male, which is absent in female. Forewing with M3 and CuA1 separated; white; costal margin greyish black in basal 1/6, in male with a black spot at base and at about basal 1/7, with three parallel golden yellow strigulae between 1/2 and 3/4 extending obliquely outward to anterior forth, edged with black scales along inner margin anteriorly, alternated with three narrow white strigulae, in female costal margin without black spot near base, with four golden yellow strigulae alternated by four white strigulae; distal 1/4 of costal margin black, narrowed and diffused inward to anterior 2/3 below distal two golden yellow strigulae counting from apex, its outer margin curved inward medially, from its outer margin to apex yellow; ovate blackish brown spot situated before apex; dorsal fascia yellowish brown, extending to first yellowish brown strigula from costal margin, anteriorly covered with black scales, edged with black scales along inner margin; cilia white, with a blackish brown line near base. Hindwing with M1 and M2 coincident, M3 and CuA1 connate at lower angle of cell; basal half greyish white, distal half pale grey; cilia white except pale grey along costal margin. Foreleg deep greyish brown except coxa white; mid- and hindlegs white, tibia of midleg covered with deep brown scales distally, tarsi of mid- and hindlegs deep brown at apex of each tarsomere on outer side. Abdomen white.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 d): Socius elongate, narrowed basally, gradually widened to basal 1/3, produced triangularly outwards at basal 1/3, distal 2/3 gradually narrowed to pointed apex, apex slightly hooked ventrad. Tuba analis membranous, with a protuberance latero-basally bearing long setae; ventro-median sclerotized band extending from near base to middle. Gnathos medially produced to a large sclerotized tongue-shaped process. Valva narrowed at base, gradually widened to 1/3, distal 2/3 subparallel, bluntly rounded at apex, with sparse long setae. Saccus triangular, pointed at apex. Aedeagus 2.5 times length of valva, basal 1/4 expanded, distal 3/4 parallel; cornutus being a long spine about same length as aedeagus.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 b): Apophyses anteriores as long as apophyses posteriores. Lamella postvaginalis subrectangular, shallowly concave at middle on posterior margin, roundly protruded posterolaterally, covered with dense long setae, about two thirds width of eighth tergum. Antrum short, thicker than ductus bursae; ductus bursae slender, about 1.5 times length of corpus bursae. Corpus bursae elliptic.

Distribution. China (Guangxi, Hainan, Hubei, Yunnan, Zhejiang).

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin adjective ligulaceus, meaning tongue-shaped, referring to the gnathos medially with a sclerotized tongue-shaped process in the male genitalia.
