Description.
Colour: Head brown; apex of pedicel, middle part of basiflagellum, entire distiflagellum and apex of labiomere IV fuscous; scape reddish brown; labium, pedicel except apex, base of basiflagellum yellow; apex of basiflagellum cream coloured. Thorax brown; two oval submedian spots near posterior margin of pronotum, apical part of metafemora of most specimens, apex of tarsomeres and almost whole tarsomere III and apex of protibiae fuscous; margins of pronotum except brown spot in the middle of anterior margin and legs except at least distal brown part of metafemora yellow; hemelytra yellow with cream-coloured spots and an obtuse brown band parallel with apical margin reaching toward apex of scutellum; membrane amber. Abdomen yellowish brown.
Structure: Dorsal surface of head with a few extremely minute punctures medially; anteriad of eyes and ventral surface finely transversely striolate. Labium reaching posterior margin of metacoxae, on one paratype reaching middle of abdominal sternite III. Pronotal collar rounded, widest area about 2 times as wide as base of pedicel. Anterior pronotal lobe considerably short, 0.56–0.62 as long as posterior lobe. Lateral margin of pronotum straight. Membrane reaching apex of abdomen. Metafemora bearing 2–3 somewhat longer stiff setae dorsally and in a row anteroventrally, and a posteroventral row of acute strong tubercles (similar to Fig. 25 View FIGURES 23–25 ). Tibiae straight. Abdominal venter impunctate.
Male genitalia: Pygophore ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 12–22 ): Posterior margin less acute than in other species, almost rounded, with thick and blunt tip. Dorsal sinus moderately small, almost half as long and 0.7 times as broad as ventral sinus; posterior aperture 0.7 times as wide as entire width of pygophore.
Paramere ( Fig. 21 View FIGURES 12–22 ): Relatively slender, blade subtriangular, gradually tapering towards apex, outer margin almost straight, inner margin rather deeply emarginate distad of inner projection, apical process less clearly demarcated from blade than in other species, tip slightly curved ventrad and more strongly inward. Inner projection long, relatively narrowly rounded, acute ventral tip of bifid apex far from more rounded dorsal tip. Base with a distinct, angulate outer projection. Shank relatively long and thick.
Measurements (3 males, holotype in parentheses): Total body length: 6.63–7.00 (7.00); head: length 0.70–0.90 (0.90), width 0.95–1.05 (1.08), interocular space 0.53–0.55 (0.55); length of antennomeres: I 0.90–1.02 (0.95), II 1.10–1.39 (1.45), III 1.00–1.25 (1.20), IV 1.05–1.18 (1.15); length of labiomeres: I 0.90–0.96 (0.96), II 1.23– 1.31 (1.29), III 0.89–0.94 (0.93), IV 0.60–0.65 (0.64); pronotum: length 0.95–1.15 (1.15), width 2.05–2.20 (2.15); scutellum: length 1.20–1.25 (1.20), width 1.15–1.20 (1.20).
Diagnosis. Orbellis guilberti Zámbó & Kondorosy , sp. nov. is similar to most of Orbellis species in the length of body (under 8.5 mm) and multicoloured hemelytra. However, the ratio of length of the pronotal lobes of O. guilberti differs from any other species of the genus: the anterior lobe is considerably shorter (0.56–0.62 as long as the posterior lobe) than on the other species (at least 0.65 as long as posterior lobe but mostly 0.7–0.82).
Etymology. The species is named after Dr. Eric Guilbert, the curator of the Museum National d’Histoire Naturelle in Paris and excellent researcher of Tingidae who lent us Lygaeoidea material and is always very helpful and a good friend.
Remark. Female of this species is unknown.
Distribution. Orbellis guilberti Zámbó & Kondorosy , sp. nov. is known only from Central Madagascar, west from the main mountain range ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 26–28 ).
