Description.
Colour: Head brown; clypeus paler; distiflagellum fuscous except sometimes cream coloured base; scape, at least proximal three-fourth of pedicel, basal and apical one-third of basiflagellum and labium yellow. Thorax brown; meso- and metasternum fuscous; scutellum and sometimes posterior lobe of pronotum brownish yellow; margins of pronotum, hemelytron with membrane and legs yellow. Abdomen brown.
Structure: Labium reaching at least posterior margin of metacoxae, sometimes longer but not over middle of abdominal sternite III. Lateral margin of pronotum from slightly convex to straight. Metafemora hardly thicker than mesofemora. Metafemora of males bearing stiff setae in anteroventral row and (partially tooth-like) strong tubercles in a posteroventral row (transitional between Figs. 24 and 25 View FIGURES 23–25 ). Tibiae of both sexes straight. Abdominal venter impunctate.
Male genitalia: Pygophore: Similar to pygophore of O. polhemi . Ratio of sinuses as in O. calcaratus Zámbó & Kondorosy , sp. nov.; posterior aperture two-third as wide as entire width of pygophore. Paramere ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 12–22 ): Similar to paramere of O. calcaratus but bifid inner projection very short and acute with ventral apex very narrow, outer outline very widely rounded, not narrowed close to base. Shank relatively short and thick.
Measurements (9 males and 1 female, holotype in parentheses): Total body length: 4.80–5.70 (5.70); head: length 0.67–0.80 (0.80), width 0.85–1.05 (1.05), interocular space 0.42–0.55 (0.55); length of antennomeres: I 0.56–0.78 (0.78), II 0.80–1.23 (1.23), III 0.84–1.00 (1.00), IV 0.84–0.95 (0.95); length of labiomeres: I 0.75–0.90 (0.90), II 0.97–1.17 (1.17), III 0.70–0.84 (0.84), IV 0.45–0.54 (0.54); pronotum: length 0.96–1.85 (1.85), width 0.90–1.10 (1.10); scutellum: length 0.84–1.00 (1.00), width 0.88–1.05 (1.05).
Diagnosis. Orbellis flavescens Zámbó & Kondorosy , sp. nov. is similar in size to most congeneric species but the coloration is much paler. The palest specimens of the other species have at least more dark spots on the corium while the darkest O. flavescens specimens have at most an inconspicuous darker spot at branching of veins R and M.
Etymology. The Latin name is an adjective and refers to the pale colour of the species.
Distribution. Orbellis flavescens Zámbó & Kondorosy , sp. nov. is distributed along the western shore of Madagascar from north to the midwestern part ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 26–28 ).
