Diagnosis: Head with transverse carina or conical tubercle ( Fig. 32). Dorsum lacking setiferous punctures. Abdomen with intersternal sutures clearly visible. Trochanterofemoral pit of anterior leg rounded. Mesotibiae and metatibiae each with two transverse lateral carinae.
Type species: Scatimus cucullatus Erichson, 1847 View in CoL (monotypy).
Distribution: From Sonora province in the Continental Nearctic dominion of the North American Pacific subregion of the Nearctic region to Napo, Guyana and Roraima provinces of the Amazonian subregion of the Neotropical region.
Composition: This genus contains twelve species and has been recently revised by Génier and Kohlmann (2003). Valid species and their synonyms are:
