Cinnamomum fajumicum Doweld , nom. nov.
≡ Cinnamomum africanum Engelhardt (1907: 212) , nom. illeg., non Lukmanoff (1878: 8).
Holotype:— EGYPT. Fayum Province , Engelhardt s.n. (Bayerische Staatssammlung für Paläontologie und Geologie, München, Germany, n.v.).
Eponymy:—From the name of Fayum province ( Egypt), a locus classicus.
IFPNI: FC65A62B-5FF5-4650-996C-524D6DBBA595.
Note:—The fossil-species C. africanum Engelhardt is an illegitimate homonym of the extant species C. africanum Lukmanoff. It was based on the leaf remains from the Bartonian sediments of North Africa ( Egypt, Fayum Province). In addition, it should be noticed that the date of publication of Lukmanoff’s monograph is erroneously indicated as 1889 in Taxonomic Literature II ( Stafleu & Cowan 1981: 192). The work was published already on 15 February 1878 (vide records of the weekly Bibliographie de la France, Ser. 2, 67: 148. 16 Mar 1878).
