Cinnamomum camphoricum Doweld , nom. nov.
≡ Phyllites gracilis Geyler (1877: 80) ≡ Pterospermum gracile Geyler (1877: 80 View in CoL , 81) ≡ Cinnamomum gracile (Geyler) Ettingshausen (1883c: 9 View in CoL ; 1884: 380), nom. illeg., non Miquel (1864: 259), nec Hooker f. (1886: 133).
Type:— INDONESIA. Pengaron, Banjar, South Kalimantan (Senckenberg Naturhistorische Sammlungen. Frankfurt/Main, Germany, not located).
Eponymy:—By resemblance with extant species C. camphora ( L.) Presl (in Berchtold & Presl 1825: 47).
IFPNI: 699D151A-4207-4698-A13F-13E9BA2D07B7.
Note:—The name of extant species C. gracile Miquel has a precedence over the name of the fossil-species C. gracile (Geyler) Ettingshausen. Soh (2011: 259) listed C. gracile Miquel in the synonymy of C. subcuneatum Miquel (1858: 895) . The earlier species name, C. gracile Hort. ex Sweet (1826: 344) , is a nomen nudum; C. gracile Hooker is a later homonym, based on Indian extant plants from South Deccan, and it is not in use.
The fossil-species was based on leaf remains from the Eocene sediments of Pengaron, Banjar, South Kalimantan, Indonesia, under two alternative names (permissible in that times, Art. 36.2), Phyllites gracilis Geyler (1877: 80) and Pterospermum gracile Geyler (1877: 80 , 81), the last of which has a recently published junior homonym, Pterospermum gracile Wilkie (2013: 10) .
Pterospermum wilkieanum Doweld View in CoL , nom. nov. ≡ Pterospermum gracile Wilkie (2013: 10) View in CoL , nom. illeg., non Geyler (1877: 80, 81). Holotype:— THAILAND. Krabi Province, Muang Krabi District, Khao Phanom Bencha National Park, Headquarters, 8º 14ʹ N, 98º 55ʹ E, rocky semi-open area next to permanent stream at edge of lowland evergreen forest, 06 January 2006, S. Gardner & P. Sidisunthorn ST2171 (E; isotypes BKF, K).
In addition, it should be noticed that the date of publication of Ettingshausen’s monographic work on fossil plants of Borneo is erroneously indicated as 1884 in Taxonomic Literature II ( Stafleu & Mennega 2000: 420). The work was published earlier as a preprint on 6–13 October 1883 (vide weekly records of Österreichische Buchhändler-Correspondenz # 41, p. 418. 13 Oct 1883) [http://fossilplants.info/publications/ B71C014D-0CF2-4E43-A881- 62DFDC2B29EE]. The journal issue of Sitzungsberichte (Heft 2 for 1883) was published with a delay in January, 1884 [http://fossilplants.info/publications/ 48BBBC32-F222-49C5-844F-C3AE3221E9D1].
