Cinnamomum duabicum (Schakryl) Doweld , comb. nov.
≡ Cinnamomophyllum duabicum Schakryl (in Kolakovsky et al. 1982: 201).
Holotype:— ABKHAZIA. Duab, Kolakovsky Д- V-957 ( SUCH, n.v., probably lost in fire in Georgian-Abkhazian War 1992–1993); Pliocene (Kimmerian) – figured by Schakryl (1977: 96, pl. 1, fig. 1).
IFPNI: 6A0FF715-A230-4C10-AF6C-23BF70E3AB 3F.
Note:— Imchanitzkaja & Sveshnikova (1975: 29) noticed that the European Miocene fossil-species Cinnamomophyllum buchii Heer (1856: 90) was doubtfully identified in the younger Pliocene (Kimmerian) sediments of the Transcaucasus (Duab, Abkhazia) by Kolakovsky & Schakryl (in Kolakovsky 1959: 337). Schakryl (in Kolakovsky 1982) renamed these fossils as Cinnamomophyllum duabicum Schakryl. Since these fossil leaf remains have typical Cinnamomum -like epidermal features resembling C. japonicum Siebold (1830: 23) and C. camphora ( Schakryl 1977: 96, pl. 1, fig. 1), the fossil-species is transferred to Cinnamomum here.
