Prosopis rubicola Smith, 1869 (nom. praeocc., nec Saunders, 1850): 74–75, ♀, ♂ (type locality: England). Hylaeus discretus Förster, 1871: 942 –943, ♂ (type locality: Belgium, Huy/Maas).
Hylaeus atratulus Förster, 1871 (nom. praeocc., nec Schenck, 1853): 979–980, ♀ (type locality: Hungary). Hylaeus suspectus Förster, 1871: 1075 –1076, ♀ (type locality: unknown).
Prosopis minuta sensu Alfken, 1905a (nec Apis minuta Fabricius, 1793 ).
Prosopis brevicornis sardoa Alfken, 1934: 23 , ♀, ♂ (type locality: Italy, Sardinia).
Hylaeus parvulus Janvier, 1972 (nom. praeocc., nec Schenck, 1853): 113, ♀, ♂ (type locality: France, Île d'Oléron).
Material examined. Kemerovo Province: 1 ♂, Krapivinskii distr., Azhendarovo, 3.VIII.2009, SNY (KSU); Altaiskiy Territory: 1 ♂, 8 km S Biisk, Ust'-Katun', 7.VII.2007, SAB ( ZISP); 1 ♀, 40 km SSE Zmeinogorsk, Novoaltaiskoe, 6.VIII.2007, SAB ( ZISP); 6 ♀, 30 km S Kur’ya, Savvushka, 31.VII–1.VIII.2007, SAB ( ZISP); Altai Republic: 1 ♀, Chemal, 19–21.VII.2007, SAB ( ZISP); 1 ♀, 80 km SSE Ust'-Koksa, Zaichikha River, 25–28.VII.2013, MYP, VML ( IBSS); Krasnoyarsk Territory: 1 ♀, Magansk, 30.VI.2012, MYP, VML ( IBSS); 1 ♀, Krasnoyarsk, Bazaikha, 2.VII.2012, MYP, VML ( IBSS).
Distribution in Siberia. *Kemerovo Province, *Altaiskiy Territory, *Altai Republic, *Krasnoyarsk Territory.
General distribution. North Africa ( Morocco), all Europe to 64°N; in the Alps and Pyrenees to 1900 m altitude. Previously, the eastern edge of its range was thought to lie in Iran ( Dathe 1980). The new records show that the species is considerably more widely distributed.
Remarks. The taxonomic situation within the brevicornis group remains unsatisfactory and a revision including the Asian records is needed. Profound uncertainties exist even among the European taxa ( H. brevicornis , H. gredleri Förster , H. kahri Förster , H. intermedius Förster and H. imparilis Förster ), so that the examined specimens are tentatively assigned to H. brevicornis . Nevertheless, morphological characters make possible an assignment to H. brevicornis . By analogy, this applies equally to H. gredleri . In southern Siberia and in Europe, where these species are partly sympatric, these two taxa apparently form a species pair in which the putative species should be distinguished.
