Type species: Mucroseius monochami Lindquist, 1962 , by monotypy. Mucroseius .— Lindquist, 1964a: 168; Karg, 2005: 63.
NOTES: (a) Lindquist & Evans (1965: 52) considered Melichares to be a senior synonym of Mucroseius . We adopted the interpretation of Lindquist & Wu (1991: 879) and Halliday et al. (1998: 2), considering them to be distinct genera; (b) Bregetova (1977a: 211) considered Mucroseius to be a junior synonym of Proctolaelaps . We adopted the interpretation of Lindquist & Wu (1991: 900) and Halliday et al. (1998: 2), considering them to be distinct genera.
