TYPE LOCALITY AND HABITAT: road from Manteigas, Serra da Estrela, Guarda, Portugal, from a spring. NOTE: according to Article 45.5 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, Plesiosejus italicus var. estrellae Athias-Henriot, 1961 is not an available name (variety, therefore infrasubspecific; ICZN, Article 15.2). Lindquist (2003: 169) proposed Platyseius estrellae as a new species, referring to the description and figures published by Athias-Henriot (1961).
