Lasioseius (Zygoseius) Berlese, 1916a: 41 .
Lasioseius (Zygoseius) .— Vitzthum, 1941: 765; Westerboer, 1963: 279. Zygoseius .— Hirschmann, 1959: 4; Halliday, 1997b: 3.
NOTE: there is still no consensus in relation to the familial affiliation of this genus. Lindquist & Evans (1965: 54) considered it not to belong to Ascidae , but to a different unknown family. It has been considered to belong to Ascidae by Evans (1958a: 227), Sheals (1962: 100), Hyatt (1964: 468) and Athias-Henriot (1969: 126); to Pachylaelapidae by Lindquist & Evans (1965: 54), Krantz & Ainscough (1990: 642), Halliday (1997b: 3) and Lindquist et al. (2009: 147); and to Halolaelapidae by Karg (1998b: 165) and Christian & Karg (2006: 106). Mašán & Halliday (2014: 53) stated that the presence of a strongly sclerotised sternal shield fused with the endopodal shield is not consistent with the Halolaelapidae as defined by Halliday (2008: 217) and Lindquist et al. (2009: 163). Mašán & Halliday (2014: 53) excluded this genus from the Pachylaelapidae on the basis of its leg chaetotaxy and the presence of two dorsal shields in the deutonymph, but did not place it in any known family.
