Material examined. MHLCLFE 429 (female; SVL 92.3 mm, TaL> 109 mm, broken), Bayur, Province of Sumatera Barat, elev. 480 m.
Taxonomic comments. This specimen agrees with the description of the species as given by Hallermann (2005).
Distribution on Sumatra. Provinces of Aceh, Sumatera Utara, Sumatera Barat, Jambi, Riau, Bengkulu, Sumatera Selatan, and Palembang; also the islands of Bangka, Nias, Simeulue and We, and Mentawai Archipelago ( De Rooij, 1915; Hallermann, 2005). This species was previously mentioned from Lake Maninjau by De Rooij (1915).
Biology. This diurnal species is common in bushes and shrubs bordering gardens, paddy fields and plantations, often near streams. It has been also observed on forest edges. Specimens were seen in August and November.
Gonocephalus grandis (Gray, 1845) *
Material examined. Two specimens (1 juvenile, 1 subadult), photographed, Tigapulan Mts., Province of Riau, elev. 210 m.
Taxonomic comments. The identification of these specimens was confirmed by N. L. Orlov (pers. comm.).
Distribution on Sumatra. Provinces of Riau (first record in this work) and Aceh, Sumatera Utara, Sumatera Barat, and Bengkulu; also the island of Nias and Mentawai Archipelago ( De Rooij, 1915; Manthey & Grossmann, 1997; Y. Laumonier, pers. comm., 1998; this work).
Biology. Both specimens were found by night in November, asleep on a branch overhanging a river in primary forest, at 2 and 3 meters above water respectively.
