TYPE LOCALITY: Ethiopia, east of Lake Turkana (Rudolf), near Mutti Galeb .

DISTRIBUTION: Central African Republic, Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, E Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania.

SYNONYMS: illustris, kadugliensis, lorenzi, lowei , melanops , meneghetti, nubilus, osgoodi , perluteus, rufus , tenebricus , zammarani.

COMMENTS: Allocation of synonyms to this species follows Robbins (1977).
