TYPE SPECIES: Lorentzimys nouhuysi Jentink, 1911 View in CoL .

COMMENTS: Member of the New Guinea Old Endemics ( Musser, 1981c). Photograph, distributional and biological information summarized by Flannery (1990b:197). Phallic morphology described by Lidicker (1968). Analyses of phallic traits ( Lidicker and Brylski, 1987) indicated Lorentzimys and Leptomys are related, a hypothesis also supported by dental features and shared derived cephalic arterial pattern.
