TYPE LOCALITY: Zaire, Kasai, St. Joseph de Kananga (Luluabourg) .

DISTRIBUTION: Recorded only from the vicinity of the type locality.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Nannomys . Now treated as a distinct species belonging to the M. sorella group ( Petter, 1981b), but its relationship to that species needs to be assessed in a careful revision of the M. sorella complex (see account of the latter).
