TYPE SPECIES: Xeromys myoides Thomas, 1889 View in CoL .

COMMENTS: Member of the Australian Old Endemics ( Musser, 1981c: 166) or Hydromyini of Baverstock (1984), and Lee et al. (1981). Xeromys is phylogenetically distantly related to Hydromys , although the two are still sister genera ( Watts et al., 1992).
