TYPE LOCALITY: Madagascar, Fianarantsoa Prov., Ampitambe forest .

DISTRIBUTION: E Madagascar rain forest, 500 to 950 m.

COMMENTS: Some have voiced concern that populations of G. roberti are being supplanted by introduced Rattus (summary in Carleton and Schmidt, 1990).
