TYPE LOCALITY: Madagascar, "S.E. Betsileo.”

DISTRIBUTION: Madagascar: Central plateau and its eastern fringes.

COMMENTS: Described as a species of Nesomys but referred to Brachyuromys by Major (1896); occurs sympatrically with B. ramirohitra .
