TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Oaxaca, north slope Cerro Pelon, 31.6 km S Vista Hermosa, 2650 m .

DISTRIBUTION: Vicinity of the type locality in the Sierra de Juarez, NC Oaxaca, Mexico.

COMMENTS: A small-bodied species morphologically similar to H. simulatus and sympatric with H. lepturus (see Robertson and Musser, 1976).
