TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Tamaulipas, 70 km (by highway) S Ciudad Victoria and 6 km W Panamerican Highway, El Carrizo .

DISTRIBUTION: SW Tamaulipas and adjacent San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Neotoma . Specific status maintained by Birney (1973) but level of relationship to N. micropus unclear.
