TYPE LOCALITY: Colombia, Cundinamarca Dept., Bogota region, Guaquimay .

DISTRIBUTION: W and NC Colombia, N Venezuela, E Ecuador, and N Brazil.

SYNONYMS: pusillus .

COMMENTS: Named and recognized (e.g., Ellerman, 1941) as a subspecies of N. spinosus until elevated to specific status by Lawrence (1941).
