TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Michoacan, Nahuatzin, 8500 ft .

DISTRIBUTION: Cordillera Transvolcanica, Mexico, from WC Michoacan eastwards to C Veracruz.

SYNONYMS: orizabae , perotensis .

COMMENTS: Williams and Ramirez-Pulido's (1984) evaluation of geographic variation disclosed no basis for subspecific divisions. See Williams et al. (1985, Mammalian Species, 242, as Peromyscus alstoni ).
