TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Nayarit, San Blas .

DISTRIBUTION: Coastal plain of Nayarit and S Sinaloa, Mexico.

COMMENTS: Previously classified as a geographic race of P. boylii ( Osgood, 1909; also see Hall, 1981); elevated to species by Carleton (1977). Relationships addressed by Bradley and Schmidly (1987) and Carleton et al. (1982). P. boylii species group.
