TYPE SPECIES: Reithrodon typicus Waterhouse, 1838 (= Mus View in CoL auritus Fischer, 1814 ).

COMMENTS: Arranged by Hershkovitz (1955a) with sigmodont rodents; other evidence points to its kinship with phyllotines ( Olds and Anderson, 1989; Pearson and Patton, 1976).
