TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Sonora, Rio Sonora, Rancho de Costa Rica .

DISTRIBUTION: WC Sonora to C Sinaloa, Mexico.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Reithrodontomys , megalotis species group. A relict species having close affinity to R. montanus ( Hooper, 1952) .
